The riding

Little formal MTB waymarking outside race events; dense trail webs make a local guide strongly advisable.
Popular with tour groups but trails absorb traffic; good solitude on forest singletrack midweek.

Getting there & gear
Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park entry approx NPR 1,000 for foreigners plus an MTB permit (approx NPR 1,000, plus small fees); pay at gate or Kathmandu tourist service center. VERIFY current rates.

Shivapuri gate at Budhanilkantha approx 30-45 min from central Kathmandu; Nagarkot approx 1.5 hr east by road.
Operators run jeep shuttles to Nagarkot/high points for descent-focused days; taxis and local transport widely available.
Trail/enduro bike advised for descents; carry water. Mobile coverage generally good across the valley rim. (est)
