Also known as: Molveno-Andalo-Fai

Distance
Network-scale: ~400 km of marked MTB/e-bike itineraries with ~80 km of gravity/enduro singletrack across three zones (Andalo, Molveno, Fai). The signature 'Enduro Grand Tour' links the network at ~59 km; a single lift-served top-to-bottom descent runs ~5-10 km.
Descent

Climb
1,000 m
Typical time
A lift-served day of laps typically fills 4-8 hours; the full Enduro Grand Tour is a strenuous ~6-8 hour expert outing. Four-hour and full-day bike passes are the common ride windows.
A mountain bike rests on a fence in the scenic Livigno Alps; perfect for summer adventures.

Who in your group rides what

Whether everyone in your group gets a day at Dolomiti Paganella - the grades on offer, the named zones, and how mixed abilities split up.

What this network spans
Grades 1 to 51-5 (green to double-black)
Local grading

Full spread from green/blue flow (Andalo, 'kingdom of the flow trails') to red and black technical/enduro lines in the Fai zone; e-bike-permitted routes on many trails. Trailforks grades range green to double-black.

Zones & variants

Group split - beginners/intermediates lap Andalo flow trails and easy forest itineraries; advanced riders tackle Fai steep enduro (e.g. Bear Trails enduro circuit) and long top-to-bottom lines from Cima Paganella. Uplift options let groups regroup: Andalo-Doss Pela cable car, Molveno-Pradel cable car and Fai chairlift; turn around at any mid-mountain lift station (e.g. Chalet Dosson).

Accessibility & group fit

Strong group fit: beginners/families ride Andalo flow and forest routes while advanced riders take Fai enduro/steep tech, all reconnecting via shared singletrack and lifts. Skill areas and pump tracks aid progression.

The riding

Terrain

Mix of hardpacked machine-built flow with berms/jumps in Andalo and natural rocky, rooty forest singletrack in Fai; surfaces range from smooth loam to limestone rock slabs. Descends through Dolomite forest to valley.

Technical demands

The Fai zone holds steep, technical black lines with rocks, roots and nose-press turns; Andalo skews to bermed flow with lower exposure. Genuine expert-only sections exist, but exposure is mostly forested rather than cliff-edge.

Navigation

Well-signed dedicated bike-park network with trail signage, difficulty markers and lift-integrated maps; single bike pass covers zones. Trailforks and official georeferenced maps support navigation (https://www.trailforks.com/region/dolomiti-paganella-bike/map/).

Crowds

Popular, well-known destination that gets busy in July-August and on lift-served flow trails; shoulder seasons and the more technical Fai enduro lines offer more solitude. Weekdays quieter than weekends.

Season & conditions

Open window

Bike area generally operates roughly April/May to October/November - one of the longest seasons in the Alps; full network typically open by late May. Exact lift dates set annually (funiviemolveno.it; paganella.net).

Best season

Late spring through autumn; May-June and September-October are prime shoulder-season windows with fewer crowds and cooler temps. Midsummer is busiest.

Seasonal specials

Ongoing network expansion is a draw - e.g. the new 'Top Gun' trail (Fai zone, ~5 km from ~1880 m to ~1330 m) completing the full descent from Cima Paganella. Bear Trails enduro circuit, three pump tracks and a large skills area are network highlights.

Alpine afternoon thunderstorms in summer bring lightning and rain that make rock/root sections slick; morning fog and cold snaps possible at the ~2125 m summit. Trails close in wet/unsafe conditions.

Getting there & gear

No permit or lottery; riding trails is free but lift uplift requires a bike pass (approx EUR 25 for 4 hours / EUR 30 full day, verify seasonally). No access ballot.

Permits and operators change - confirm before booking.

Trailhead access

Reached by car via Trento (~30 km) / A22 Brennero motorway; Andalo, Molveno and Fai della Paganella have municipal car parks near the lift bases. ~50 km from Lake Garda (visitdolomitipaganella.it / paganellabikepark.com how-to-get-here).

Transport & shuttles

Nine bike-capable lifts uplift the network: Andalo-Doss Pela cable car, Molveno-Pradel cable car and Fai della Paganella chairlift, connected by shared singletrack. Single bike pass covers all zone lifts; 4-hour pass ~EUR 25, full day ~EUR 30 (verify current rates).

Bike & gear

Full-suspension enduro/trail bike, full-face or open-face helmet and pads recommended for gravity lines; e-bikes permitted on many trails. Water and food at refuges and villages; mobile coverage generally good in valleys, patchier on upper forest sections.

Facilities

Well-developed hub: bike rental/e-bike, bike school and guiding, washing stations, three pump tracks, a large skills area, and refuge/village restaurants and bars. Bike shops in Andalo and Molveno.

Operators

Hubs at Andalo, Molveno and Fai della Paganella; official destination management via Dolomiti Paganella Bike (paganellabikepark.com / dolomitipaganellabike.com) with an affiliated bike school offering rentals, coaching and guided tours. Lift operators: Paganella Ski (Andalo) and Funivie Molveno.

Hazards & rescue

Hazards

Steep technical black lines in Fai carry crash/injury risk for under-experienced riders; wet rock and roots become slippery, and shared singletrack means uphill/other-user encounters. Wild bears inhabit the wider Brenta area - keep distance and do not approach.

Guiding

No guide required; the network is self-guided with signage and maps. Guides/instructors are optional and available through the local bike school for coaching or enduro tours.

Emergency & rescue

Numerous fire-road and lift-station bail-out points (e.g. Chalet Dosson) allow mid-descent exit; European emergency number 112 covers mountain rescue (Soccorso Alpino Trentino). Villages sit close below the trails.
