Also known as: BPW
Forested slopes of Mynydd Gethin above the Taf Fechan/Merthyr Tydfil valley, with open moorland viewpoints at the summit before dropping into the trees. Signature trails include Terry's Belly, Sixtapod, Melted Welly and Zut Alors.

Whether everyone in your group gets a day at BikePark Wales - the grades on offer, the named zones, and how mixed abilities split up.
UK/Euro trail-grading colours: green (easy), blue (intermediate), red (difficult), black (severe/expert) plus orange pro lines/dirt-jump; a white-graded skills/pump area. Trailforks difficulty spread approx green 2, blue 14, red 19, black 14, pro 4.
Descent-only, uplift-served: BEGINNER group ride Kermit (approx 5 km, UK's longest beginner gravity trail) and blues such as Terry's Belly (longest continuous blue descent in the UK); ADVANCED group takes reds/blacks/pro lines (e.g. Zut Alors, Insufficient Funds, Enter The Dragon). All groups share the same uplift and regroup at the summit and the visitor centre.
Strong all-abilities fit - dedicated beginner experiences, coaching, bike/kit hire, group and family bookings (min group 10), plus a tested Adaptive Bike Pass/adaptive-approved trails. Suits first-timers to pros in the same session.
Mix of machine-built hardpack flow trails and natural rocky/rooty singletrack through conifer forest, with open rocky mountain-top starts. Surfaces range from smooth bermed loam to loose rock gardens and slabs.
Full spectrum from smooth machine-built flow to rocky, rooty, steep natural tech, big jumps, drops, rock gardens and gap jumps on the red/black/pro lines. Exposure is low (forested, non-alpine); main risk is speed and features, not falls off height.
Fully waymarked colour-graded network with trail-map boards and signed junctions; uplift drops riders at a signed summit hub. Trailforks app/map provides GPS backup.
Popular - the UK's biggest bike park with heavy summer/weekend uplift demand and booked-out days; over 117,000 logged rides on Trailforks. Weekdays and shoulder seasons are quieter.
Open essentially all year (Trailforks season Jan 1 - Dec 31); generally trading Thursday-Monday with seasonal/school-holiday variations. Snow is rare and short-lived in the South Wales valleys.
Rideable year-round as an all-weather trail network; Trailforks ride-log data shows peak activity July-September. Summer offers driest, tackiest conditions.
Events and discounted uplift promotions (e.g. adult-plus-child afternoon uplift offers) and pre-season shakedown gatherings; annual members pass and multi-day uplift bundles. Ongoing rewilding/biodiversity programme funded from the site lease.
Classic wet Welsh-valley climate - frequent rain, mud in winter, strong wind and low cloud/mist over the exposed summit sections. Trails are built to drain and ride well in the wet, but grip and visibility drop after heavy rain.
Pay-to-ride: uplift day passes, pedal (uplift-free) passes, uplift bundles, annual members pass, plus bike/kit hire and coaching; all pre-booked online. No lottery/permit ballot; a signed acceptance-of-risk waiver/registration is required before riding.
Permits and operators change - confirm before booking.

Gravity riding with jumps, drops, rock gardens and high speeds - injury risk is real; wear protection, ride within your grade and scope unfamiliar features. Wet-weather mud/roots and other riders on shared trails are the main hazards; a signed waiver is mandatory.
No guide required - self-guided riding on waymarked trails. Optional in-house coaching, guiding, beginner experiences and group packages are available from BPW's own coaches.
On-site first-aid and emergency-care provision with trained staff/marshals; the uplift access road allows vehicle recovery from the hill. Nearest major hospital is Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. (est)
