GROUP SPLIT - guides tailor terrain to the group, choosing mellower flow trails for less-experienced riders and steep technical EWS/Trans Madeira lines for advanced groups, picking the driest micro-climate zones. Uplift is private shuttle van (no lifts on the island).

The riding
Volcanic singletrack - rocky, rooty, loamy forest floor, levada-side paths, ridge and gully lines; surfaces range from fast/flowy to steep/tight/technical.
Steep, tight, rocky, rooty volcanic singletrack; ridge lines, exposed high-mountain sections, loamy forest and fast open gullies; some remote trails requiring short pedals. Full-face recommended.

Season & conditions
Operates all year (shop Mon-Sat 08:30-12:30 and 14:30-20:00, closed Sun/holidays). No snow season - guides shift between wetter north and drier south coasts.
Year-round thanks to subtropical oceanic climate. Autumn/winter favored for quiet trails and atmospheric Fanal laurel forest; spring for wildflowers; summer warm/dry on the south coast.
Trans Madeira multi-day enduro race (operator-organized); hosted Enduro World Series venues in 2017 and 2019; film heritage (Deathgrip, Gamble).
Rapid micro-climate shifts - rain, wind, cold and low cloud on high/north sectors while the south is sunny; slippery volcanic rock and roots when wet. Guides mitigate by choosing driest zones.
Getting there & gear
Guided enduro day EUR 85 pp (own bike) or EUR 150 pp (with full-suspension rental + protective gear); optional accident insurance +EUR 10 pp/day. No permit/lottery.
Permits and operators change - confirm before booking.
Base at Funchal shop (Hotel Porto Mare). Nearest airport Madeira/Funchal (FNC, Santa Cruz). Secondary pickup at the CR7 Museum, Funchal centre; airport shuttle available.
Private van shuttle/uplift included in tours (pro driver). No cable cars/lifts on the island - all uplift is by van.
Bring helmet (full-face recommended), pads, gloves, eyewear, waterproofs, hydration/snacks; DH-casing tyres and spares if using own bike. Guide carries first-aid and repair kit; workshop and mechanic at base. Lunch not included.

Hazards & rescue
Wet/slick volcanic rock and roots, exposed ridges, remote technical descents; micro-climate changes. Insurance strongly advised. Trails are guide-access, not intended for unguided visitors.
Guide required - this is a guided/shuttled operation, not a self-serve park; classified local guides, pro driver and support mechanic.
Guides carry first-aid; riders strongly advised to hold personal accident insurance; Portugal emergency 112. Remote sectors have limited quick exit - guide manages risk.
