Grades 1 to 31-3 (green to blue)
Local grading

NZ Grade 2-3 (Easy to Intermediate).

Zones & variants

GROUP SPLIT: natural split at Piropiro (~40 km, halfway) for the overnight; less-fit riders do Pureora to Piropiro on day 1 then shuttle out, or take a commercial shuttle to Piropiro to ride the descent-biased Ongarue leg. Operators run Ongarue-Pureora shuttles and bag transfers so groups can pick start point and direction.
